Rehab Gets in the Way of Lindsay Lohan’s Movie
Posted by Drug Free in Drug Addiction, Drug Rehabilitation, Drug Testing on November 22nd, 2010
While it will certainly be better for Lindsay Lohan to focus on herself and on permanently getting her life on track, there are trade-offs and sacrifices that she had to make in order to do that. According to recent reports, the young actress will no longer be playing the role of Linda Lovelace in the movie “Inferno,” even if she already shot preliminary stills for the movie.
People.com shared that Watchmen star Malin Akerman has been chosen to play the role of Lovelace, replacing Lohan.
Chris Hanley, producer of “Inferno,” gave the following statement regarding the decision to replace the actress: “Lindsay had scheduling issues due to legal obligations and is continuing to focus on getting better in rehabilitation in Palm Springs, and she really had to focus on that in our opinion – and hers… for herself and her career in general it was really her decision to just focus on getting better psychologically.”
When Lindsay started having legal problems, the people behind Inferno had stood by her. Unfortunately, an extension of her stay in rehab reportedly prompted the replacement. They were also said to have found it hard to get insurance for the actress.
Lindsay Lohan is currently in a “sober living facility” affiliated with the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California. Her stay in rehab has been extended to January 3, at the very least. It can be recalled that when Lindsay got out of jail and rehab early, she failed random drug testing. From that view point, it would seem that the decision to extend her stay in rehab is best over-all.
Of Akerman, Hanley said: “Malin was passionate to take this challenge of the role to task, and we feel she has the talent to meet that challenge.”
Lindsay Lohan Talks to Vanity Fair About Personal Struggles
Posted by Drug Free in Drug Addiction, Drug Rehabilitation on September 3rd, 2010
A few days after her recent sentence was handed down, actress Lindsay Lohan gave an interview to Vanity Fair and talked about, among other things, alcohol and drugs. A feature on USA Today showed excerpts of the interview with the magazine, which is included in an issue that has Lindsay on the cover, due to hit newsstands on September 7.
One of the things that the actress says may have led to what can only be described as a series of unfortunate events in her personal life is being around the wrong sort of people. She also denied being an alcoholic, or abusing prescription drugs – something that her dad Michael Lohan had hinted at, to say the least, quite a few times. She told Vanity Fair: “If I were the alcoholic everyone says I am, then putting a [scram] bracelet on would have ended me up in detox, in the emergency room…”
Lindsay also said that while she does admit to “dabbling in certain things and trying things ’cause I was young and curious and thought it was like, O.K., ’cause other people were doing it and other people put it in front of me,” she denies ever abusing prescription drugs, nor having the desire to do so.
The interview inevitably included questions about her father Michael, and Lindsay reacted to the fact that he gave an interview immediately after attending her probation hearing.
There is one thing that Lindsay is confident about, however: “I don’t care what anyone says. I know that I’m a damn good actress.”
Michael Lohan to Judge: Drug Testing, Rehab for Lindsay

Michael Lohan’s lawyer, Lisa Bloom, has sent a letter to the judge handling Lohan’s daughter Lindsay’s DUI probation case. A copy of the letter somehow found its way into the hands of TMZ, which promptly shared it with the rest of the world.
The letter was addressed to the Honorable Marsha Revel of the Los Angeles Superior Court in Beverly Hills. In it, Bloom requests for stricter terms of probation for Lohan’s daughter Lindsay on his behalf. In Michael Lohan’s opinion, the terms of probation currently in place – which calls for Lindsay to attend classes once a week – is not enough. Instead, the elder Lohan suggests that his daughter be enrolled in an in-patient rehabilitation facility and that random drug testing be conducted on her. In essence, however, the letter is asking that Lindsay be spared from jail, which could happen if it is proven that she violated the terms of her probation.
What Lindsay needs, according to her father, is a program that includes family therapy, and suggests one in Oheka Castle in Cold Spring Hills, New York. It is either that or “frequent, random, court-ordered drug testing” and “random searches of her home and person by law enforcement” or the extension of Lindsay’s probation “for an additional term of years to continue her period of court supervision.”
Bloom, a legal analyst for CBS News, also shared sending the letter to co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez on the “Early Show.” She mentioned that Lindsay may have missed a couple of classes, which means she is in violation of probation.
Lindsay Lohan and Her Troubles: Are Her Parents to Blame?

Type in her name on any search engine and you will most likely find a list of entries following her and her family’s misadventures – more that than the good things that she has accomplished as a child star. Her reputation nowadays only seems to evoke images of wild parties, drugs and booze; where is the befreckled Annie/Hallie people used to love?
To say that Lindsay Lohan seems to be in trouble may be an understatement. Some might say: what is it to the rest of the world? The thing is, she is a celebrity; and one who saw stardom as a child. Whether we like it or not, what she does can affect some households in one of two ways: kids may learn what they ought not to do, or follow suit.
In a recent post on Associated Content, it is shared that Lindsay showed up late for her third attempt at giving a deposition regarding her DUI arrest in 2007. She allegedly stole a vehicle with three people in it while drunk and took them for a joyride. Her mom Dina reportedly came to LA to make sure that Lindsay showed up this time; this was her last chance after skipping the first two. And why was she late? Could it be that she was seen partying till 2 a.m. at Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood as reported on E! Online with her mom in tow?
And where was concerned dad Michael at that time? Why at Industry Club, of course.
We have written quite a bit about the role that a family plays in the success – and failure – of turning a troubled person’s life around. While it may be unfair for anyone to judge, one cannot help but think; how exactly is Lindsay going to get up, if there doesn’t seem to be anyone fit enough to prop her up?
