Posted by Drug Free in Drug Abuse Treatment, Drug Rehabilitation on August 12th, 2011
People at the luxurious Sunset Malibu rehab facility do not believe in the effectiveness of substance abuse treatments on reality TV. This is why they are offering free services to any of the stars from the “Celebrity Rehab” show.
What Sunset Malibu wants to point out is that when an individual decides to seek help, he must be true to himself and focus on getting better. Sunset Malibu owner Richard Taite adds, “If you are playing to the camera on a reality show, regardless of your motivations, then you are being less than 100 percent authentic.”
The Malibu facility is one of the most luxurious and effective drug and alcohol treatment center in America. They provide a residential type of facility with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, with no cameras, which they believe will help make treatment more effective to their patients.
They are offering their services for free to any of the participants from “Celebrity Rehab” providing they undergo an interview with the facility’s staff just so they can evaluate the individual’s mind set and willingness to undergo treatment towards a sober future. They would accommodate any celebrity subject to availability and all applicants will be asked to follow their house rules, policies, and procedures.
Taite is inviting “Celebrity Rehab” stars to take advantage of his offer to them. He believes that only when these troubled stars get to experience world-class treatment provided by Sunset Malibu will they be of his offer to them. He believes when these troubled stars get to experience world-class substance abuse treatment provided by Sunset Malibu, they will know the real path to recovery from their addictions. They will get the kind of service tailored to their needs with the best facilities unmatched by any other rehab center.
Musical Influence of Amy Whinehouse Lives On

She’s dead at just 27, but her death seem not surprising to the people who knew and surrounded her. Amy Whinehouse’s was suffering from drug addiction, and showing no sign of getting better.
In her short musical career, Amy finished two albums; one entitled “Back to Black” that gave her the distinction of becoming one of the most phenomenal Grammy awards winners.
Her music mostly had the influence of the 1940’s jazz and 1960’s Motown which allowed her to contribute much to the music industry, and gave us an album that’s truly memorable. Her music was created just within the last decade, but they all sound so timeless.
She will be most remembered by the way she sounded. A feature on Time Newsfeed pointed that some said she was just an excellent imitator, there was no one else in her genre that could possibly do a cover of a Sam Cooke song and not sound so inferior to the original. Despite lyrics that are sometimes hard to comprehend and her mournful croons, Amy still had that novel sound which endeared her more to her fans.
Much of her short career was made possible by Mark Ronson. They co-produced her “Back to Black” album, from which the highly successful single “Rehab” was taken. Ironically, the song’s lyrics are quite close enough to mirror the singer’s real life. She has been encouraged to seek help for her drug addiction problems, but she always says “no, no, no.”
Rehab Center Employee Files $1-M Lawsuit Against Lindsay Lohan

It looks like the end of Lindsay Lohan’s troubles is not coming anytime soon as she faces yet another legal problem courtesy of the employee whom she allegedly assaulted while inside a rehab center in California.
On Thursday, Lohan was slapped with a million dollar civil lawsuit filed by Dawn Holland, who now goes by Dawn Bradley, the employee at the Betty Ford Center in Palm Springs who claimed she was yelled at and physically assaulted by Lohan when she tried to ask the “Mean Girls” star for a breathalyzer test in December while under the rehab facility’s care. Bradley, in her court statement, said that Lindsay grabbed her wrist and twisted it and threw a phone at her.
Bradley cited the injury in her wrist, the therapy sessions she had for the post-traumatic stress syndrome she acquired due to the incident, and the medical expenses she incurred as the main reasons why she is asking for $1 million worth of damages from Lohan.
The Riverside County who first handled the case did not file criminal charges on Lindsay since there wasn’t enough evidence, at that time, to convince them of all the allegations.
A Reuters report also confirmed that the 25-year-old actress has yet to undergo the psychological counseling as part of her sentence for stealing a necklace in January. Her lawyer, Shawn Holley, says her client is having difficulty finding services of an affordable individual treatment.
But for Los Angeles prosecutor Melanie Chavira who handles Lohan’s case, the starlet’s reason seems unbelievable. As a result, Judge Stephanie Sautner gave Lindsay another 21 days to get help. “I don’t know whether she is working or what she is doing to get an income…If she doesn’t have the means, maybe she knows someone who can help out,” the judge adds.
Despite her predicament, the “Freaky Friday” star will still be in a major production alongside John Travolta and Al Pacino which is due to start this fall.

Another television celeb has entered rehab. Eric Dane, who plays Dr. Mark Sloan on the hit ABC drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy, checked himself into a rehab facility to get rid of his painkiller addiction.
According to a feature on the OnTheRedCarpet.com, a representative from Dane’s camp released a statement to Access Hollywood which confirmed that Dane indeed is in rehab. The statement clarified that Dane is getting professional aide to “help him get off of pain medication that he was prescribed for a sports injury that he suffered over the recent hiatus.”
The 38-year-old actor accepted that he needs help and voluntarily admitted himself in a Los Angeles treatment facility, promising to work hard and overcome his addiction. As to when Dane started his rehab stint, nobody has confirmed the date.
Fans of the TV series need not worry though as despite enrolling in a treatment facility, the actor will be back and continue on ‘Grey’s.’ “He reports back to work this week. Business as usual,” confirmed his rep.
Dane is best known as Dr. Sloan “McSteamy” on “Grey’s Anatomy” which is now on its eighth season at ABC. He is married to 39-year-old actress Rebecca Gayheart who tied the knot with him in 2004; they have a 1-year-old daughter named Billie Beatrice. Earlier reports said that the couple is expecting their second child.
Dane was introduced in the second season of “Grey’s” as plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Sloan. He’s the former best friend of Patrick Dempsey’s character, Dr. Derek Shepherd, and became entangled with Dr. Shepherd’s wife (played by Kate Walsh) which ultimately resulted to the marriage fallout. The drama series continues to attract viewers worldwide.
What Betty Ford Gave to Troubled Stars

Last week, former First Lady Betty Ford died at the Eisenhower Medical Center at age 93. Many young people may not be familiar with her these days, but what her name means to a lot of Hollywood actors and actresses could not be compared to any other.
The famous Betty Ford Center, located almost two hours away from Hollywood, was obviously named after her. It’s the place known for having the most comprehensive and top-notch addiction treatment facility where troubled Hollywood personalities often go if they want to get help on substance abuse issues.
The Betty Ford Center opened in 1982 at Rancho Mirage, California and has since served more than 90,000 individuals including famous celebrities like Johnny Cash, Elizabeth Taylor, Kelsey Grammer, and Marlee Matlin. Recently, Lindsay Lohan checked herself in the facility, but unfortunately did not complete her stay.
Betty Ford herself was not an exception when it came to drug abuse. After leaving the White House, she confessed to being hooked on painkillers and alcohol. Instead of letting herself spiral down further, she confronted her problem and welcomed patients at the rehab center telling them that she too is no different from them.
“People who get well often say, ‘You saved my life,’ and ‘You’ve turned my life around. They don’t realize we merely provided the means for them to do it themselves, and that’s all,” Ford had said.
Bai Ling Blames Chinese Army Officers for Lifelong Torment

In her upcoming book “Naked in Tibet,” actress Bai Ling opens up about her experiences in the hands of Chinese army officers. She claims she has been a victim of sexual abuse.
In her interview with The Associated Press, Ling tells about the times she was forced to have sexual encounters with her superiors in the army which led to her pregnancy at a very early age and to an abortion under a name that isn’t hers. This happened as she became a soldier for the People’s Liberation Army at the tender age of 14 and got away from the group when she was already 17 years old.
She suffered so much during those times, but not even her parents knew about it. The actress says she only understood and confronted her dark past when she was under Dr. Drew Pinsky at ‘Celebrity Rehab.’
Bai who has appeared in films such as “The Crow,” “Red Corner,” and TV’s “Entourage” clarifies that she blames the individual officers of the army and not the Chinese government for the torment she has held all her life. A spokeswoman for the Chinese leaders says they are not aware of Ling’s claims and they deem it not proper to comment at this time.
Today, at 44, Bai Ling has been made a subject for paparazzi reports and has been criticized for her alcohol-fueled behavior, with shoplifting and nudity flashes all listed in her name. She defends herself from all the allegations, saying a person with a drug or alcohol problem “was abused in some way and trying to hide.” She’s not an alcoholic and claims to be allergic of alcohol even in small amounts.
“The media bring me out as this crazy slut showing her nipples everywhere. I become this character the pop culture Hollywood machine created. Somehow, I become a victim to that image.”
