Eva Longoria’s ‘Desperate Housewives’ co-star and rumored beau has been arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in Los Angeles, ironically just less than a mile from Universal Studios where they tape episodes of their hit show.
Ricardo Chavira, who plays Longoria’s ex-con hubby in the ABC series, was pulled over for routine traffic checks around 2:00 am and police immediately smelled alcohol on the actor’s breath. He was administered with a sobriety test but he failed. He was then arrested and put into custody. He refused to take both breath and blood alcohol tests and his bail bond was set at $25,000, according to a report on the New York Daily news.
“He was cooperative, he just refused to do further testing,” an LAPD police source told the Daily News.
This is not the first time that the actor is in this kind of situation. In October 2001, he had the same violation and also refused further tests.
The actor made a dangerous left turn at the intersection of Cahuenga Blvd. and Riverside Drive in Toluca Lake, California. He missed the police vehicle in front of him which was why he asked to pull over by the authorities. “He failed to yield the right of way, then accelerated to 60 mph in a 35 mph zone and threw a McDonald’s wrapper out of his window,” the source said
When police got beside his car, Chavira explained he was on his way home from a friend’s house and that he passed by McDonald’s to get some food. Authorities did not buy his story and asked the actor to step out of his vehicle.
Ricardo Chavira is a son of a Texas judge, and has two kids of his own. He became famous playing the role of a misbehaving husband to Longoria’s character in their hit TV series.
