It’s truly disturbing what some people would do just to be able to smuggle drugs. We’ve heard stories of drugs being kept in children’s bags, in orthopedic casts, in musical instruments and in many other things that smugglers think would grab the least attention. This man, however, pushed it to the limits.
An Iranian who tried to smuggle drugs into Malaysia by carrying them in his stomach has died of excessive bleeding after the drug packs burst inside him.
The man, whose travel documents showed that his name is Fathollah Mahadi and that he is 52 years old, arrived in Malaysia at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal. He had complained of severe abdominal pains and was rushed to a medical center at the KL International Airport before being transferred to Putrajaya Hospital.
Doctors at the Putrajaya Hospital performed an emergency surgery and found 137 capsules of drugs, which weighed a total of 765 grams, inside the man’s stomach. Fathollah Mahadi died at the hospital’s intensive care unit at about 9:14 AM. His body was being kept at the Putrajaya Hospital mortuary pending investigation.
