Football Players Busted on Marijuana Charges!

Two athletes — one a football player for Penn State, the other a former linebacker for LSU and an NFL player — were arrested in separate incidents involving marijuana.

marijuanaA report on The Daily Collegian shared that 19-year-old Sean S. Stanley, a sophomore defensive end for Penn State, was charged with one count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana on Monday. The charges were filed by police after a raid in Stanley’s residence at the Nittany Apartments yielded several items, which included a marijuana blunt, a marijuana roach, bags with marijuana stems and seeds, and scented candles with marijuana ashes and residue.

Court documents revealed that police had detected a strong odor of marijuana, as well as clouds of smoke, coming from the apartment. Penn State Police found the apartment unoccupied and unlocked, and noticed signs of recent drug activity.

Stanley’s roommate, Derrick L. Thomas, was also named in the search warrant, although there were no charges filed against him.

In another report from The Advocate, Baton Rouge police revealed the arrest of former LSU linebacker and NFL player Ali Highsmith, on suspicion of marijuana possession. He was arrested last Friday after a search of his home, conducted by the Baton Rouge Police Department and the State Police.

Sgt. Don Kelly shared that authorities were able to find 2 pounds of marijuana in Highsmith’s refrigerator, as well as a grinder and a vaporizer. The marijuana found in Highsmith’s home reportedly had an estimated street value of $23,000 to $24,000. He was charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
