TV time for dads and their boys will most probably consist of a ball game or some kind – or fight night. And one of the fights that most boxing aficionados have been looking forward to is a fight between superstars Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
After negotiations for a fight between the two fell through due to drug testing issues, both have moved on to other fights. Pacquiao beat Joshua Clottey in March and he recently won a seat in Philippine Congress, adding “Congressman” to his various achievements. And as Pacquiao’s political campaign was in full swing, Floyd Mayweather Jr. went up against Sugar Shane Mosley, claiming victory at the end.
We are certainly interested to know what the father-and-son Mayweather tandem have to say about Pacquiao’s political feat, as they usually have something to say when it comes to the Filipino boxer.
With that out of the way, fans would like to know: will there be a fight between the two (other than a war of words), and when will that be? Several sports analysts speculate that there may be a fight as early as November.
Another question that needs to be answered is whether they will ever agree about the terms of drug testing. Pacquiao is said to be asking for a 24-day cutoff, while Mayweather, wants testing up until fight night. Will they ever meet at common ground, and give fans the fight that they would like to see?
